I like that we have a freshman orientation specific to honors. I feel like it helps the upperclassmen meet all of the new faces and connect. It also gives freshman an opportunity to ask questions and provides a good overview of what to expect from the Honors program. Anna Talkington
I absolutely loved Orientation. I got to meet the people I'll be working along side of for the next four years, make some amazing friends right off the bat, and have fun doing it. It was good being "forced" to meet people and get to know them, and making those friends really helped soften the transition into college. Learning everyone's names was a challenge, but it was done in a fun way and we laughed plenty. It was also nice to get a big-picture feel for what the semester was going to look like. All the games were so much fun, too, especially the volleyball! --Brittany Jolly
I loved honors orientation not only because we all had a great time and got to make new friends, but because it really helped me realize that I made the right choice on where to go to college. I felt like I fit in immediately and all my first day gitters went away. Like Brittany said, being "forced" to meet new people was a lot of fun, and most of those people I met the first day I'm still really good friends with now. I have to admit I still don't know everyone's names, and probably will still not know when I'm a senior, but getting the chance to have one on one interaction with everyone in the group was a great way to start making friends. So not only is this a way for me to explain why I had fun during orientation, but this is also me saying thank you for helping me start off my new life the right way.
