The sorting hat event helps to add some friendly competition to the honors association. I think that this is a great element of the program as it encourages everyone to work a little harder and attend more events. The things you do then affect your whole house rather than just yourself. It also adds some fun to the program by incorporating the feel of Harry Potter which we all know and love.
The Sorting Hat ceremony was the final piece that I needed to truly feel at home in the Honors program. The ice was broken and it was the first opportunity I had to see that the people in the Honors program aren’t stuffy bookworms but smart, goofy and engaged. Next year we need more vuvuzelas.
The Sorting Hat Ceremony was so much fun! I enjoyed the little shenanigans of Dr. Benton with the horn. That really made us all laugh. It felt good to be part of a house that is like a family, and I have enjoyed everyone in my honors family as well, not just in my house. Kamryn Akers
The Sorting Hat Ceremony was such a great way to open up to my fellow honor students, and the free food was a great bonus. I really liked the idea of competing with the other houses; it is always fun to compete with others while making new friends. The free food was a great bonus! -Becky Wilson
