A Scary Potter Musical

Congratulations to the Honorable Zach Garcia and the cast of "A Scary Potter Musical!" which had its world premier on Thursday, March 26th at ECU. After producing, directing, and starring in "A Very Potter Musical" a year ago, Zach did himself one better this year by producing, directing, starring in, and writing  an original musical this year--book, music, and lyrics.  Completion of this project partially fulfills the requirements of Zach's Honors Thesis. Take a bow, sir!

  1. I enjoyed every minute of A Scary Potter Musical! I am a huge Harry Potter fan and it was awesome seeing it acted out on stage right before my eyes. Their was tons of humor and music, and it is amazing that Zach did all of this himself! It was obvious that a great deal of work went into the production, and I admire everyone who participated in it.

  2. The Scary Potter musical was hysterically funny and I loved all the pop culture references. I also appreciated how Harry, Ron, and Hermione end up being friends, despite their different houses. I also think it is really cool how this adaptation was also the honors thesis.

  3. I did not get to see the first musical last year due to a conflict, but I was really excited to see this years. I went on opening night and had an absolute blast. I really liked how they incorporated the references to what was going on at the time (Dr. Who, twilight, etc.) The only reference I feel they may have stepped on toes a bit was the SAE. I think they expected a bit more of a laugh out of that one and the night that I went everyone got really quiet on that part. Was it funny? Yes, a bit, but I guess most of the audience thought it was a bit to soon? Anyway, Zach did an amazing job of bringing this all together and I'm very impressed by everything.

  4. I believe I went to the play on the Saturday night showing. Long before it was performed, I had heard of the previous Harry Potter related musical that Zach Garcia had produced . Because of the great comments on it, I was encouraged to go to this one. I must say, A Scary Potter Musical lived up to my expectations, and in fact exceeded them. I especially enjoyed the choreography throughout the play. One good example of this was in the "Should've Been Slytherin " scene. -SKC

  5. This play was definitely one of my favorite events of the year. I watched it the first night it opened with a bunch of my friends and we were all rolling on the floor laughing by the end of it. It was really inspiring also, to see so many talented people performing a musical that was written by one of our own honors students. To hear the hilarious jokes and banter and musical numbers he came up with brought to life by other ECU students was... to say the least, magical!
