  1. The Research Symposium was very educational. One presentation by Dr. Kelly Standifer on pain tolerance and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder was very interesting. She found through her study on rats that people with PTSD will usually have a lower tolerance for pain after going through something traumatic. It was very intriguing to hear how she came to that conclusion through her experimentation with light and heat on the paws of rats and their reaction time. She is using her research to develop alternative therapeutic options for the treatment of pain.
